It *gives* you hope? Are you saying that you find it hard to believe that people in prisons or jails or detention centers are actual people like you and me? That they might have possibly been put there under circumstances that would have put you there as well, had you been in the wrong place at the right time? Vice versa.. etc?Everyone is so ready to hate convicts because it is so much easier than hating themselves, you see.Projection is the key..
It apparently comes down to semantics and redistricting. The 23rd district has had democratic reps but many of the counties that currently make up the 23rd haven't. Those counties keep getting moved around such that they're always in a republican district.This does mark the first time since the 1850's that most of those counties have had a democratic rep, but it's not the first time district 23 has had one.!

Cops are generally conservative; judges generally liberal.I fully expect the Digg peanut gallery to blame the police for citing the driver so many times, rather than the liberal justice system that recycles offenders rather than suspending sentences and overloading to the point where citations can't be brought further.Love this part.... "He came up with the idea a few years ago after a police officer . complained that she was constantly ticketing drivers without . licenses only to see them driving again soon after.. But two earlier efforts failed. In March, some were concerned that . the ordinance would target illegal immigrants who didn't have . driver's licenses, Allen said."Silly alderman...he forgot that if you're a criminal and break one law, we can't have any other laws that might also catch you.

How long before big media starts going after independent artists claiming infringement or similarities between performances or artistic works? It's coming I think. It won't be long before the media industry goes out of their way to copyright and IP everything in existence and erase the public domain from history. |
